We at VAA are finding
that about a third of our victims are not victims of Identity Theft at
all – but,
rather a victim of a domestic dispute or just a bad credit history because
of loss of job or some other reason.
If you have gone to the police and asked for a police report and they have
told you that you are not dealing with Identity Theft – but however:
a domestic dispute, consider taking that person to court with the proof
that you have against them.
Victims of ID Theft very seldom get the satisfaction of a prosecution. If your
credit records are askew because of a domestic dispute and someone who has
taken advantage of you. Take them to court and prove that. It will then show
up on their credit records that they have done this.
A lot of victims are telling our advocates at VAA that they cannot afford
an attorney. If you are a victim and you’d like to get some legal
help or take someone to court and cannot afford an attorney – you
may want to consider contacting your attorney generals office first to
see
if your case is covered
by their office or any such office in your state (they will know). if it
is not you may want to look into the link we’ve put in below for
you for
Legal Help.(A link will be provided shortly).
We at VAA hope that this helps you with your problem and hope you realize
how much nicer it is to be able to take someone to court rather than deal
with
an ID Theft and an unknown perpetrator. You have a perpetrator and a crime;
make the person stand up for what they’ve done even if it is a family
member. You need to take action or what would stop them from doing the
same thing again to you, to other family members, or anyone else for that
matter?
If you have had a financial problem due to a lay off, a hospital stay that
threw your finances off, unexpected unemployment, a domestic dispute or
any other such reason – we will include a link below to agencies
that help people get their financial footing in place with Consumer Counseling.
>> Please check back soon. We will post links
as soon as they become available.
Please contact
VAA if you have any questions.
We hope that this may
possibly help you in your situation. Good luck to you from all of us at
VAA.
