ID THEFT VICTIM STORY on march the 8th 2003 i had lost my buss pass on the bus. the next day, i recieved a call from my brother stating that somebody had called my parents house and left a message(i live at a different address)reporting that they had found my buss pass and not to worry they would call back. they called from a private number. i thought to myself, thank god somebody found it. in a week from then, i was going out to the bars and i realized i had no identification on me to prove that i was over 19. i reliazed that my identification(my SIN card and my drivers licence and my student card) were tucked into my bus pass. even then i wasnt that worried, i thought, well these people found it and they called and they will return it. was i ever wrong...the reason they called was to delay me in reporting it stolen.

it turned out that these people had found everything on the bus that same day, and THE NEXT DAY they had gone into a radio shack and purchased 2 at&t cell phones. i was shocked, it took me a week to find out something was up, but it took them a day to do this, if not more. thank god i found out in time, or who knows what else would have happened. these people do not even know me, they have no idea what something like this is putting me through, it is a full time job just to look after this, hours on the phone and hours to the police station and to the creditors trying to clear my name and trying to catch these people.

the police have been contacted and i guess they are doing all they can, but really to them my crime is so petty, there are a million other things to worry about in the world then my id's getting stolen and people posing as me. thank god this has not ruined my credit so far that i know of, but i feel so violated and i can't sit back and let them get away with this. iam taking this into my own hands and trying to do what i can.

the people that committed this crime are a bunch of teenagers, turns out i even met one of them at a party, he's a big time criminal over here in my city, my boyfriend and brother used to party with him alot. everybody knows him but nobody knows where he lives...him and the 2 other people he was working with have bought 2 cell phones, i also have a suspicion that an employee from radio shack might have helped them get away with this crime.

there is so much more to my story, but all in all, i thank god that nothing more happend to me, and i pray for the people that have been affected by this more severly then i have been.
